Fulbright Grants for Scholars and Researchers

Core Fulbright Scholar Program

The Core Fulbright Scholar Program offers American scholars an opportunity to teach, conduct research or combine both at the Czech universities and research institutions.

The Core Fulbright Program grants are awarded for lecturing or projects combining lecturing and research for  one semester (3 months) or for one academic year (9 months).
Research projects are awarded from minimum 3 months to 9 months (one academic year).

The All disciplines awards, including the postdoc category which are available for the Czech Republic, are published each year in the Fulbright Awards Catalogue.

There are 5 positions of the Fulbright Distinguished Scholars open for the Czech Republic, namely, at the Charles University, Masaryk University, Palacky University, Czech Technical University and CERGE- EI. Please see details of the awards at respective parts of the Fulbright Awards Catalogue.

We strongly encourage all scholars interested in the Fulbright Czech Republic to consult in advance possible affiliation, research projects and offered courses with us. We are happy to assist in finding suitable host institutions.

Benefits

The grants vary from 2300 to 4300 USD per month depending on the type of the grant and applicants´ academic seniority. The grant also includes a travel allowance of USD 1,500. The monthly grant, travel allowance, and insurance benefits are provided by Fulbright Commission in the CR. The grant covers all expenses during the grantee stay in the CR, incl. housing which the grantee arranges individually with assistance either from the host institution or the program officer.

Application

Scholars interested in Fulbright program in the Czech Republic apply through  on-line application system. After pre-screening of all applications by IIE, recommended applications are forwarded to Czech Fulbright Commission for final selection.

The Board of the Czech Fulbright Commission approves nominations which are then processed by IIE and approved by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB).

Fulbright-Masaryk Award (NGO Management)

Visit please Fulbright scholars website for detailed information regarding this particular program aimed at support and mutual exchange in the field of NGO management and disciplines related to the civic participation and NGO sector.

Please feel free to consult with the Fulbright Commission in the Czech Republic your plans and projects, mainly regarding your affiliation to the relevant Czech institution. We can help you to find the best match for your project. Also note that obtaining invitation from the Czech university or research institution can be difficult during summer months – look for contacts earlier in the spring.

Fulbright Specialist program

This is an institutional program for Czech institutions hosting US academics for 2-6 weeks. This program is not designed for individual research projects, aims at teaching, cooperation on curriculum, etc. The US academics can register into Fulbright Specialist Roster. Farewell to Our 23 English Teaching Assistants

On Friday, June 5, in Olomouc, we celebrated 23 Fulbright English Teaching Assistants who, throughout this school year, taught 6460 students at 24 schools across the Czech Republic.
